The project “YOUNG PRUDENT CITIZEN”was funded with the support of the European Union under the Programme "Europe for Citizens"

The project involved 370 citizens, notably 155 participants from the city of Komárno from organization Prudentia, n.o. (Slovak Republic), 155 participants from the city of Szeged from organization Foundation for Youth Activity and Lifestyle (Hungary), 20 participants from the city of Brno from organization Santaroga o.s. (Czech Republic), 20 participants from the city of Bielsko-Biala from organization Fundacja HFG (Republic of Poland), 20 participants from the city of Coka from organization Nezavisna Omladinska Organizacija „ACTIVE“ (Republic of Serbia).

The event took place in the city of Komárno (Slovak Republic) from the 24th October 2014 to the 26th October 2014.

The day of 24th October 2014 was dedicated to the closer acquaintance of project partner participants and European policy. Lecture and open dialogue on topic “European Union and Us” with Pál Csáky – European Parliament deputy was held at the High School of Hans Selye in Komárno. Besides the project partners, students, representatives of government, politicians, pedagogues and psychologists participated at this lecture and dialogue. In the afternoon hours, the closer acquaintance of project participants took place. Each project partner presented its town and organization and their successfully implemented youth projects. Further, a discussion about the revolutions in the year of 1989 in their countries was held. Within the discussion, each project partner explained the events that preceded the revolutions, events that followed and how their country has been changing throughout the 25 years since the revolution. “GO AND VOTE!” party accompanied with concerts was held in the evening hours.

The day of 25th October 2014 was dedicated to increase of voter turnout at elections (any elections, municipal as well as European Parliament elections). Project partners were making banners with slogan “GO AND VOTE!” as inspiration for all non-voters. After lunch, sports – knowledge contest with stations throughout the city of Komárno was held. Within the contest, the participants and students completed tasks and answered questions about European Union and events leading to the end of the cold war. There was an EU tent at the Andrew Fair in Komárno, where the project participants were informing the public about European Union, doing EU quizzes for the public, a dialogue on the future of the EU, on the role of young people in the EU was held and the public was encouraged to participate in the elections. Project participants held an open dialogue with public in the premises of Csemadok (Social and Cultural union) about the events in 1989, democracy, European Union and were encouraging people to vote in elections (all elections, municipal as well as in EU Parliament elections). After the dialogue, project participants presented folk dances and songs from their countries.

The day of 26th October 2014 was dedicated to creation of the big remembrance pictures on topic – revolution in 1989 and its accompanying events in partner countries (SR, HU, PL, SRB, CZ). There was an EU tent at the Andrew Fair in Komárno, where the project participants were informing the public about European Union, doing EU quizzes for the public, a dialogue on the future of the EU, on the role of young people in the EU was held and the public was encouraged to participate in the elections. Partners were making a documentary about project as a statement for non-voters in European Union. Project partners summarized the project activities and discussed their future cooperation.
